A LITTLE ABOUT ME

I’m Ye Wei 👋

A product designer at Carnegie Mellon University’s Entertainment Technology Center. I’m passionate about designing human-AI interactions and creating emotionally meaningful learning experiences through games, VR/AR, and mobile sensing.

What drives my work as a designer?

I began my design journey in industrial design, where I learned how to turn empathy into form. Over time, I became drawn to emerging technologies—especially those that challenge how we interact, learn, and feel. My goal is to use design not just to solve problems, but to ask better questions about how we live, connect, and grow.

Why does user-friendly design matter to me?

After working closely with BLV (Blind and Low Vision) students, I’ve become increasingly aware of the importance of creating user-friendly experiences—not just in terms of accessibility, but in understanding how every design decision impacts the broader product ecosystem. These experiences have helped me think more systemically about usability, clarity, and how to make products truly intuitive for diverse users.

What inspires me outside of work?

Outside of design, you’ll find me exploring narrative design, playing with shaders in Unity, or prototyping playful ideas that blend the physical and digital worlds. I also enjoy studying the emotional impact of interactive experiences—especially how games and mobile tools can support reflection, healing, or everyday joy. I believe design can be both serious and fun—and that the best ideas often come from moments of curiosity.
